Draw It — Privacy Policy

Draw It is a coloring and drawing app for young children, ages 8 and under (including ages 5 and under). We built it so that it does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
The short version
- We collect no data. Draw It has no accounts, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party advertising or analytics tools.
- Drawings stay on the device. Everything your child makes, and the app's progress and settings, are stored only on the device.
- Drawing works offline. The app itself never sends anything over the internet. The only network activity is the optional in-app purchase, which Apple or Google handle.
- Grown-up features are behind a parental gate. Purchases, restoring purchases, sharing and saving pictures, and the settings area all need a grown-up to answer a math question first.
Information stored only on your device
To work, Draw It saves the following on your device only:
- The drawings your child makes, and which picture and background each one uses.
- Progress: stars, stickers, streak days, completed challenges and unlocked picture packs, including which optional purchases have been made.
- Settings (sound and vibration), and any challenge text a grown-up types in the grown-ups area.
- A short timer used by the grown-ups check (parental gate) after too many wrong answers.
We cannot see or access any of this. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
What we do not collect
We do not collect, store, share or sell:
- names, email addresses, phone numbers or other contact details;
- photos, voice or video;
- location, contacts or device identifiers (such as advertising IDs);
- IP addresses, usage data, analytics or crash reports.
We do not use cookies or similar technologies. We do not show ads. We do not track your child across apps or websites. Draw It does not use the camera, the microphone or location services.
In-app purchases (Apple and Google)
Draw It offers optional one-time purchases: "Full Unlock", which opens all picture packs, and single packs (Magic Patterns, Sweet Shop, Nature Friends). None of them is a subscription. Sweet Shop and Nature Friends can also be unlocked for free with stars earned in the app. Only a grown-up can buy, inside the grown-ups area, after passing the parental gate. Apple's Ask to Buy and Google Play's family purchase approvals also apply where you use them.
- Who processes it: purchases and restores are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their own terms and privacy policies. The app uses Apple's StoreKit 2 and Google Play Billing, through the open-source
@capgo/native-purchasesplugin. - What we receive: we never receive your name, email address or payment details.
- How ownership is checked: the app asks the store on the device whether the purchase has been made, and keeps that answer on the device. No purchase information is sent to us or to any server of ours. We do not have one.
- Store policies: Apple's privacy policy is at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ and Google's is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Sharing and saving pictures
In the grown-ups area, behind the parental gate, a grown-up can share a drawing or save it to Photos using the device's built-in share sheet. The picture goes only where the grown-up chooses, and that app's or service's own privacy policy applies.
On iPhone and iPad, saving to Photos asks for permission to add photos only. Draw It never reads your photo library.
Device backups
If you use iCloud Backup or Android/Google device backup, your device's backup may include Draw It's saved drawings and progress. That backup is controlled by you and by Apple or Google under their terms. We have no access to it.
Children's privacy (COPPA and similar laws)
Draw It is designed for children ages 8 and under: on Google Play it targets the "Ages 5 & under" and "Ages 6–8" groups. It is listed in the App Store Kids category and is part of Google Play's Families program. These are all children under 13, so COPPA applies in full.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, or from anyone.
- We do not ask for a child's name, age, photo, voice or contact details.
- There is no chat or social feature, and no way to post content inside the app.
- The app has no third-party advertising or analytics.
- The app's only link out is to this privacy policy, in the grown-ups area behind the parental gate. Purchases and sharing are also only reachable behind the parental gate.
Because we collect no personal information, we have nothing to share, sell or disclose. This applies under the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR and UK GDPR, and similar laws.
If we ever plan to change this, we will:
- update this policy first;
- where the law requires it, obtain verifiable parental consent before any collection;
- give parents the choice to refuse.

Keeping and deleting information
Information stays on your device until you delete it.
- A grown-up can delete all drawings or reset progress in the grown-ups area.
- Uninstalling Draw It removes all of its data from the device.
Because we hold no information about you or your child, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR, UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to its processing. We do not process personal data through Draw It, but you are welcome to contact us with any question and we will answer.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. For significant changes, we will tell you in the app or on the store listing before the change takes effect.
